At The Hub on Canal: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Art Connections The Hub on Canal offers an inside look at the work of more than 70 local artists. Learn about the process of creating art while exploring two floors in one historic building located in the heart of the New Smyrna Beach Arts District. Free.

1 – 2 p.m.: Talk Art! featuring Renee Lewis with Woman Who Draws Outside the Lines. Get to know this Hub Artist through an informal session. Learn how the artist works, media and techniques. Bring your enthusiasm for the arts and lots of questions! Admission is free.

2:30 – 7 p.m.: Live Music in the lobby of The Hub on Canal in conjunction with the Downtown Music Festival featuring the Daytona State College Flute Choir (2:30 – 3:30p.m.), the HubCats, the Hub’s very own eclectic blues/jug band (4 – 5:30 p.m.) and rounding out the evening with another fantastic group showcasing the Downtown Music Festival (6-8pm). Free.

4-7pm: Opening Reception for the March gallery exhibition entitled Thursday’s Model, My Personal Interpretations featuring Barbara Perrotti, classical portraiture. Artist talk at 6 p.m. in the Founders Gallery. Free and open to the public.

Museum of Arts and Sciences Continuing Exhibits 

Continuing Exhibits: The Root Family Museum, featuring Coca-Cola© memorabilia and other Americana; the Cuban Foundation Collection; Frischer Sculpture Garden; Anderson C. Bouchelle Gallery for International Decorative Arts; Kim A. Klancke, M.D., and Marsha L. Klancke Environmental Education Complex in Tuscawilla Preserve; Schulte Gallery of Chinese Art; Helene B. Roberson Visible Storage Building; The Giant Ground Sloth; The Charles and Linda Williams Children’s Museum, the first hands-on science center in Volusia County, featuring more than 9,000 square feet of interactive exhibits.

Museum Hours are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Monday – Saturday) and 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Sunday).   Museum admission is $12.95 adults; $6.95 children 6‐17; $10.95 seniors and students; members and children 5 and under are free. 

One planetarium show is included with the purchase of your admission ticket to the Museum of Arts & Sciences. Additional Planetarium Shows: $5 adults, $3 children. Monday – Friday Showtimes are 1 – 4 p.m.; Saturday Showtimes are 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. & Sunday Showtimes are 12 – 4 p.m.

Planetarium and laser shows daily. Parking is free.

Admission is FREE for Volusia County residents the first Tuesday of each month. MOAS is fully accessible to the handicapped.

Kick off Mardi Gras Weekend and come down to the New Smyrna Beach Gumbo Festival & Cook-Off happening Saturday, March 1st from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m., on Flagler Avenue.  The Gumbo Festival & Cook-Off will feature a variety of gumbos from local eateries and then vote on their favorite.

Gumbo Tasting Passports are $15 each and go on sale at 11 a.m., the day of the event. This is a CASH event and passports can be purchased at the tent located at Famous Philly’s, on the corner of the Cooper Street and Flagler Avenue.

Proceeds go directly to the 2019 Mardi Gras Parade on Flagler Avenue.

Gold Star Ballroom- Every Saturday night, 7 – 10:30 p.m.

Join Gold Star Ballroom every Saturday night for a dance lesson taught by local instructors. (Social Ballroom, Latin and Swing) The party starts with a fun group class from 7 – 8 p.m., followed by general dancing from 8:00 – 10:30 p.m.

Every second and fourth Saturday, the dances are hosted by the USA Dance Chapter #6026.

Admission is $10, members, ($15 non members) Gold Star Ballroom is a beautiful ballroom with a friendly atmosphere and commitment to providing each individual with a quality dance experience.

Join them for Practice Nights on Thursday at 7 – 8:30 p.m. and is only $5. Requests are welcome. Meet with friends to practice in a casual atmosphere. 

Beginning and Intermediate Group classes take place on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights, lessons vary each month, check our calendar for updates.
